James Tatum – 28th of February 2026
Corners of the Quantocks in acrylics
All my paintings begin plein air and are made from a collection of sketch book studies. I work with all media (acrylics, oils, watercolours, etc.) and usually a combination of these (i.e. mixed media).  For my supports, I use heavy watercolour paper, gesso prepared board or canvas. I am excited to share my painting style inspired by a vibrant local theme.

Catherine Beale – 28th of March 2026
Wetlands Ham Wall nature reserve in watercolours
Watch a scene appear from cascading paint as Catherine demonstrates her spontaneous ‘ gravity painted’ watercolours using the local subject of Ham Wall Nature Reserve as her inspiration. She will explain her loose painting techniques which allow water to mix pigment on the canvas, creating atmospheric results.
BRING YOUR OWN MATERIALS – boards can be purchased for a small fee from Catherine

Paul Weaver – 2nd of May 2026
Discovering subjects through sketching and drawing.
Following on from his demonstration in March, this workshop will give you a chance to practice Paul’s fundamental sketching and drawing techniques, with guidance on working from life as well as photo reference.

Lisa Takahashi – 30th of May 2026
Dynamic woodcut prints
Join us for a day of dynamic woodcut! In this workshop, we’ll use stainless steel forged gouges and Japanese Shina plywood to create expressive woodcuts full of movement and drama. The beauty of woodcut lies in the bold, striking marks that come so naturally with this medium. You’ll be encouraged to embrace the natural characteristics of Shina plywood, using your gouge as freely as you might a pencil in a loose sketch. During the day, you’ll also have the chance to ink and print your woodcut – either in a single colour for striking simplicity, or with colour blends to heighten the drama and vibrancy. Suitable for all levels of experience.
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED

Anna Brewster – 27th of June 2026
Summer flowers in ink with watercolours or acrylic inks
As an extension of the demo earlier this year, Anna will show you how to create sensitive bouquets of flowers in black ink and coloured with water colours or acrylic inks.

Rebecca Mendonca – 25th of July 2026
Windswept Dartmoor in pastels
Join us for a pastel workshop to capture the life and energy of Dartmoor on windswept days. Full of tips for creating a sense of space, distance, and capturing mood and atmosphere. Rebecca will share many of the pastel techniques that she uses for painting this rugged and beautiful landscape, and changing weather conditions.
Bring your own reference if you have some, if not Rebecca has some to choose from. Good quality pastels and surfaces available for a fee on the day.
SOME OR ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED FOR A FEE

Jackie Curtis – 28th of November 2026
Mono prints with natural materials
We will use portable printing presses to produce a variety of monoprints using all sorts of natural materials from onion skin, leaves, feathers, seedheads, etc. Jackie will bring materials but you might like to bring some things of your own along – anything you think might have an interesting texture to print with (that you don’t mind getting covered in ink) e.g. Leaves, feathers, dried plants, feathers, small teasel heads. Plant materials do need to be dry (not green) as the press will find and push out any sap.
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED
